We have a wonderful place for you to bring your training, it is remote, beautiful and has 450 acres for you to explore.

Introducing Camp Lodestar.

Located just 35 minutes from Jackson, California in Wilseyville, we are a large camp available for rent to groups as small as 12 people and as large as 165 people.

    Camp Lodestar is in Northern California is an hour and 40 minutes from Sacramento and 1 1/2 hours from Stockton in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills.

  2. Wilderness Training with Lodging Options
    There is nothing like having the option to stay in a lodge or cabin after a day outside practicing and learning survival skills. With five different types of rustic lodging options, there is a place to rest weary heads full of learning.

  3. Meals Service Optional
    I don’t know about you, but training and learning makes me hungry, that’s why Camp Lodestar offers home cooked meals based on your dietary desires. We can make sack lunches to take on the go as well. Or perhaps you prefer to cook your own meals outside? Just ask.

  4. Shelter Making
    Many survival skills classes offer shelter making so students can learn how to build a shelter in case they ever need one. We have so much open area, and lots of natural objects to choose from, you are sure to find what you need.

  5. Meeting Space
    Camp Lodestar is flush with both indoor and outdoor meeting space. Care to meet at the fire circle, amphitheater, or maybe inside Toad Hall? No matter your group size, or what you’re seeking, we have it. Combine this with coffee service, or a pastry platter, now you’re on to something.

  6. Interesting Add-ons
    Camp Lodestar is home to Indian grinding rocks on-site which inspire a hands-on experience of Native American daily life. We also have a diverse plant and animal life to see and study along a stream and pond. All are available when you come to Camp Lodestar.

  7. Water Water
    The Middle Fork of the Mokelumne River flows right through camp making an interesting way to study water and teach about safe drinking practices.

Common Curriculum, We Can Do

Wilderness and survival skills training often cover some of the following curriculum:

  • Building shelters from available materials,

  • Making fire without matches

  • Locating water

  • Identifying edible plants

  • Manufacturing tools

  • Hunting and trapping animals with primitive devices

  • Making protective clothing and blankets from skins and fibers

When you bring your group to Camp Lodestar, we will work with you to make sure every aspect of your curriculum can be met. Our friendly staff, who is there when you need us, but will give your group privacy when needed, will make sure to make your program a success.
