Crystal Conference Center, Investing in the Future
We’re Honoring Our Heritage
Crystal Conference Beach at Sunset.
At Crystal Conference Center, every improvement we make is guided by a simple goal: creating an exceptional experience for our guests while preserving this special place for future generations.
As we move through 2026, we're excited to share some of the improvements that have enhanced the guest experience over the past year, as well as a significant milestone that will help shape Crystal's future for decades to come.
Enhancements to Your Crystal Experience
Over the past year, several guest-focused improvements have been completed throughout the property.
New in 2025
We've made a variety of updates designed to improve comfort, convenience, and recreation for all guests:
Added recycling stations at dorms and lodges to support environmental stewardship.
Expanded menu offerings with additional options for guests with dietary restrictions and food sensitivities.
Added pickleball opportunities on the tennis courts, one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in the country.
Installed new benches at Vespers as part of a community Eagle Scout project, creating a welcoming space for reflection and worship.
New in 2026
We're continuing to build on these improvements with:
An expanded salad bar featuring additional options for vegetarians, vegans, and health-conscious guests.
New elements on our adventure course, creating fresh opportunities for challenge, growth, and team building.
Preserving Crystal's Backwoods for Future Generations
One of the most exciting developments in Crystal's history is the completion of a Conservation Easement agreement with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC). This agreement permanently protects approximately 69 acres of Crystal's beautiful backwoods from major future development while allowing Crystal to retain ownership of the property.
Importantly, the agreement preserves our ability to continue enhancing the guest experience through:
Future construction of a lookout tower.
Development of trail systems throughout the property.
Educational signage and interpretive experiences that help guests connect with the natural environment.
In support of this effort, the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy has committed $625,000 toward Crystal's capital campaign. In addition, Crystal cottagers have contributed another $500,000 through related conservation efforts and deed agreements.
Together, these commitments total an incredible $1,125,000 toward Crystal's capital campaign, bringing us more than halfway toward funding all three phases of the Conservation Easement initiative.

The generosity of our supporters is already producing visible results across the property.
