What Socks and Internships have in Common

United Camps, Conferences & Retreats (UCCR) is super pleased to announce a new internship with Iowa State University student Mikenna Rodriguez.

“As a 4th year college student studying public relations and psychology, I needed to find an internship where I could put my skills into action.” says Mikenna. Mik, as likes to be called, was happy to discover that the marketing team at UCCR, the company that manages Clover Woods Camp & Retreat Center, would be happy to support her with an internship.

“As a busy nonprofit managing 13 retreat centers across the United States, we were glad to have Mik’s help in exchange for training her along the way.” says Laura Chamberlin, UCCR’s Marketing Manager. Mik will be helping UCCR with research and all different types of promotional marketing. She has already demonstrated an ability to listen well, follow direction and provide insights” says Chamberlin.

Though Mik is based in Iowa, with today’s technology she can easily support the marketing efforts of all 13 UCCR managed facilities.

When we asked Mik about what she likes to do in her free time, she said cheering on her favorite football teams, the Iowa State Cyclones (see photo) and Minnesota Vikings. When she mentioned adding to her collection of patterned socks, that’s when we knew she would be a natural fit.
