My first time at Jesuit Retreat Center (JRC) was back in 1974 as a young man of 18. It was quite a bit different back then, but there was still lots of history and beauty surrounding us. Now, over 40 years later, I have the privilege to return twice a year in June and in August. In June, I get to meet with people who have never been to JRC, and in August, I visit with people who have been coming here since the mid-to-late 50’s. The peaceful surroundings, good camaraderie, and great food keep them coming back each year. The June group is full of energy: hiking, swimming, game playing, karaoke nights, campfires, bowling, water skiing at Rollins lake (about 10 miles away,) and all other kinds of activities. The August group enjoys sitting by the pool reading a good book. Sue and Kris Holland do a terrific job making sure our groups are taken care of very well. That JRC is an amazing place that can accommodate a wide variety of needs for every age group continues to astound me year after year.
